The IPTV service from AT&T now has special channels in HD. The U-verse service channels are HLN HD, Discovery Kids HD, truTV HD and Turner Classic Movies (TCM) HD which can all be entreeed by existing customer’s with a HD subscription. All U-verse TV packages include HD-ready equipment, and most include an HD-ready Total Home DVR.
Dan York of AT&T said:- “These HD additions help us with several strategic content initiatives and net ball us to continue to deliver a broad and diverse cast of HD programming, with more HD channels than our cable competitors”.
High definition is seemly the norm for all new channels launched and is a surefire way to attract new customers. AT&T U-verse TV now has more than 130 HD channels available. Their DVR equipment is also capable of transcription all that HD content you dont have time to watch live internet tv.
Cable giant Showtime are said to be intromission an online streaming seervice for subscribers, giving them access to on ask streaming of premium tv shows and movies. The online service will be care to match HBO’s Go streaming service.
The new service will obviously sound a shedload more content, and it is expected to be available to subscribers only.
The cable companies are all looking at ways to benefit from online streaming without alienating existing tv companies that show their content, and without losing subscribers.
A Showtime spokesman said:- “There’s nothing to announce at this time,”.
The HBO service is available to the 40 million subscribers of HBO and Cinemax for free, called HBO Go, the service has streams available of the channel’s hit tv shows and movies and is intentional to offer added value that may keep subscribers with the service. The streams are available online before appearing on DVD rental services such as Netflix.
