We’re not all tech wizards, and something that seems like a simple idea can sometimes be complicated once you get into the nitty-gritty. This article will teach the reader how to correctly sync your LG Ally to a PC.

When synchronizing a device like the Ally to a laptop or PC there are really only 3 steps that should be watched for. The three steps are plugging in the smart phone, make sure that the phone is synchronized, and transfer the files you want over to the phone. It sounds simple enough; however, the technical details often leave people in a state of, “What do I do now?”

Before we may begin this process, the phone must be plugged into the computer. To do that, locate the USB cable that came with your phone and the other LG Ally accessories. You might need to first remove the LG Ally case. The bigger side of the cable plugs into the PC.

Now, you’ll need to do a few things so that the phone and the computer can recognize each other. Just like when two people meet for the first time, the two electronics need to basically shake hands and meet each other. Depending on how the computer is set up, the user may need to do it manually. However, start with the phone first, open the Notifications panel then tap USB connected. Then a new box will pop up, and tap on Mount. This makes your phone act as a new drive or new disk that you have just inserted. Your computer should recognize that a new drive has been plugged in. If so, you’ll be prompted by your computer. Select the option that says, “Open folder to view files.” If you aren’t prompted, then go to “My Computer” and look for a drive that is called “Removable Disk.” That’s actually your phone. Double click the Removable Disk icon. Once you do that, your computer and phone now recognize each other. You’ll be looking at the contents of your phone the way your computer sees it.

Now that your phone and computer are talking, it’s time to move the files you want. First, find the files you want on your computer. These are normally music and picture files. Once you can see the files you want to transfer, select them with your mouse by clicking, then holding the mouse button down, and dragging the selection rectangle over all the files you want. Once they’re selected, right-click any one of the selected files and choose the option that says “copy.” After that, select the window that says Removable Drive (a.k.a. you’re LG Ally). Right-click anywhere inside a blank space of the window and choose the option that says “paste.” You should then be notified when the transfer has completed.

You have now learned how to transfer files from your computer to your phone. Now, it’s time to safely disconnect them. On your computer, right-click the icon that looks like a little pair of pliers in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen. Then select “Safely Remove Hardware.” Then on your phone, go to your screen or LG Ally Screen protector and open the Notifications panel. Tap the option that says “Turn off USB storage.” A new box will pop up. Simply choose “Turn off,” and you’re finished
