How Internet TV has changed

our Lifestyle

Times have changed and these changes have radically transformed the way we interact with each other today. It has affected our lifestyle, our relationship with friends and family and our whole recreational time.

This article proposes that Internet has enhanced and value added to our lifestyle in many good ways.

Household Cost Savings

The fact that you no longer need to own an expensive TV, unless you want to, undoubtedly translates to cost savings for the household. It used to be that the family would gather every  night in front of the TV after dinner to watch 1 single TV channel. Whilst this may prove to be a great opportunity for catching up with each other, more often than not, siblings and spouses usually cannot agree to watching the same program. Husband wants to watch History channel, wife wants to watch Gossip Channel, and children want to watch Cartoon. As a result, most households usually own a few TVs to cater to the different needs of different individuals. Thanks to advances in technology, the personal computer can now double up as a TV. This is especially important during economic downturn, when cost savings becomes important for every household.

Personal Enjoyment and Privacy

Let’s face it. Very few of us enjoy the same programs at the same time. Most of us cannot tolerate the annoying habits of others whilst watching TV together. For example, you’re enjoying your favourite cook show and your boyfriend sits down to supposedly watch with you. After 10 minutes into how long to fry the chicken etc, etc, he starts switching channels and proceeds on channel hopping. How annoying is that? Even if you have another TV set somewhere in the house, you may not have satellite channels connected to that TV set or you could very well want to sit on your favourite couch to watch TV. Imagine if you could just reach out to your PC, pluck on your headset and continue watching your cook show in no time. Talk about personal enjoyment and privacy.

Flexibility and Convenience that Improve Social Life

No more checking the schedule and planning your life round that specific TV schedule. If your favourite HBO movie or tennis match is due to start at 9p.m. and your darling just asked you out for ice cream, there’s no need to turn her down or disappoint her. Go ahead and enjoy yourself. After that come back and enjoy yourself again with the great satellite TV on PC software that lets you watch anything at any time you want. Some excellent software even allows you to record your favourite LIVE shows with some simple steps. What a win win situation.

Also, if you need to catch a flight and your favourite shows about to begin, get yourself onto public wifi at the airport and start watching that show whenever and wherever. Just remember not to watch it when the planes about to take off.

Babysitting

You may be thinking…. are you kidding? How can a computer babysit a child? Well, let’s think about it in greater detail….. you’re out on a holiday with your 3 year old. You’re carrying your laptop which was meant for work but also enhanced with the downloaded satellite TV on PC software. You’re trying to eat at a cafe with public wifi and the terrible 3 refuses to eat and can’t stop creating a scene by being bored and hysterical. So you whip out your laptop armed with many wonderful children and educational channels like Mickey Mouse, Sesame Street, Niklelodean, etc. The whining stops, the once hysterical fidget sits quietly in his seat and finishes his food. Talk about taking over the babysitting.

Less Commercials

In a face pace society, we all want to avoid commercials. The good news is that online commercials only last about 30 seconds each with each show having no more than 5 commercials. That’s substantially better compared to traditional TV  which flash commercials continuosly for 10 minutes each time and at the interval of 30 minutes between commercials. That’s a great deal for most of us.
